Where it all began

Humour & empathy
I have always been a keen photographer, ever since I was given my first Box Brownie style camera as a young girl. Years later I took several photographic modules at Richmond Adult College. When my marriage ended and my three sons were no longer living at home, followed by the death of Benjy, our wonderful Golden Retriever, I felt it was time to start something new.
On a visit to Paris, I happened to notice a dog crossing the road with a man-pouch in its mouth, followed by another dog carrying a shorter dog’s lead between its teeth, (see main photo above). I was lucky enough to have my camera with me and managed to snap this candid moment. Since then I have not stopped taking photos of dogs, with humour and empathy.
Once I made the decision to almost exclusively photograph dogs, I would set off with my Canon SLR in a rucksack whenever I travelled abroad or in the UK. I have walked many miles in cities, towns and villages.
